Cooperation in the field of education by the 3TU.Federation is realised in the managing committee 3TU.Education. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has awarded a grant of 6 million Euros in the form of an "Incentive Fund" for this cooperation.
An important part of the cooperation is the development of five joint master's degree programmes:
1. Embedded Systems
2. Sustainable Energy Technology
3. Construction Management & Engineering
4. Systems & Control
5. Science Education & Communication
The 3TU-masters Embedded Systems and Sustainable Energy Technology started in 2006.
The master's programme in Construction Management and Engineering started on the 1st of September, 2007. The 3TU-master Systems & Control started
also in September 2007 in Twente and in Eindhoven, but was already offered at TU Delft.
The master's programme in Construction Management and Engineering started on the 1st of September, 2007.
The 3TU programme in Science Education & Communication started in September 2008. All educational master's degree programmes at the three Universities of Technology will be brought together under this name.
In addition to these master's degree programmes, the three Universities of Technology work together in a large number of other areas of education. An important product of this cooperation is the transfer matrix, from which students can directly benefit. This matrix shows which master's degree programme at the three Universities of Technology each bachelor's degree programme offered within the Federation gives access to, and under what conditions. The opportunities for bachelor students in technology subjects have therefore been expanded considerably.
Secretary of State Halbe Zijlstra has kicked-off the implementation of the 3TU Sector Plan for Technology, and is making available an extra investment of three times 11 million euros. At the request of the Secretary of State, these funds will be used entirely for education in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The seven educational programmes to which the three universities of technology will allocate the funding are:
- Restructuring of programmes
- Monitoring and coaching
- Excellent lecturers
- Internationalisation of education
- Digitalisation of education
- Stan Ackermans Institute
- Mathematics education
