Instruments have replaced the human eyes, ears and nose as sensors in high-tech environments such as industrial labs, production lines or hospitals. The core of the DTI program is the design of these systems. Emphasis lies on successful project management. Techniques from fields like mechanical and electrical engineering, physics, chemistry and information technology ('brains) are combined into a well-functioning system. The DTI program has a separate industrial course and a curriculum for becoming a clinical physicist.
