‘Boost your logistics brain and muscles!’

LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS DESIGNERS OFFER ADVANCED SOLUTIONS

Partnering with TU/e’s professional post-master technological designer program Logistics Management Systems boosts your logistics brain and muscles performance. If you want to know what is the next thing after Lean and Six Sigma and make it happen in your company, you will find this program satisfying these aspirations.

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) houses a wide variety of technological expertise, top-notch research facilities, excellent researchers and numerous spin-offs. TU/e, with its various research programs, ranks amongst the best universities in the world. In the field of logistics, TU/e offers specifically a two-year post-master level engineering degree program (Professional Doctorate in Engineering, PDEng), specializing in Logistics Management Systems Design (LMS). This program combines the engineering capabilities of four research groups specialized in Operations, Planning, Accounting and Control, Information Systems, Innovation Management, and Human Performance Management, and is embedded in the 3TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute.

A SYSTEMS APPROACH DEDICATED TO HELP YOUR COMPANY

The LMS program focuses on the multidisciplinary design and implementation of systems to manage and control design, supply, production, distribution, and maintenance of products and services. During the program, the LMS trainees focus on the logistics challenges being faced by the industry world-wide: a systems approach to problems related to effective and efficient innovation, production, distribution and use of products and services, including information and communication systems. The process of implementation of the designed solutions incorporates the latest insights on change management and human resource management.

SOLVING PRACTICAL INDUSTRIAL PROBLEMS

As part of this program, the LMS trainees participate in an industrial design/development project for a period of ten months, with a company. For you, the industrial partner, such a project is a fixed-date, fixed-price project. The design project, which is focused on delivering solutions to your practical logistics problems, enables industrial partners and TU/e to establish a close partnership. The LMS trainees are highly skilled engineers who use the science available at the university to solve complex logistic problems. The design projects will be defined by your company and executed by our LMS trainees, supervised by one of our highly experienced design scientists; the result is usually a proof of concept or an improved control system.

SCOUTING TALENT

The involvement in the recruitment market for the early scouting and attracting of talented logistics business process engineers/designers allows your company to be a step ahead of the competition in terms of the labour market. Investing in, and involving a talented LMS design trainee during the design project provides you the opportunity to get to know the trainee well and to find an optimal match within your company. Once the program has been completed, the Logistics Management System Designer is ready to join your company!

A CLEAR VALUE PROPOSITION

Within this partnership, TU/e cooperates with partners in industry willing to actively participate in this two-year program. The industrial partner defines design projects according to its own current needs and hosts the trainee for the ten-month period. All information regarding the agreements, involvement of the industrial partner within the design project, intellectual property right and confidentiality issues are part of the TU/e standard TOIO agreement, between TU/e and the industrial partner.

THE PROCESS IN BRIEF

Year 1: A suitable highly qualified candidate is selected for your
              company.
              The candidate will finish his/her Master, already working
              with you company.

Year 2: The candidate will work on a dedicated project at your
              company. The initial project definition should be final 2
              months prior to the start of the project.

BENEFITS

The program delivers the following benefits for your organization:

- On-site execution of a real-life design project by the trainee;

- The intellectual property rights resulting from the design will lie with the industrial partner;

- Visibility and access to potential employees (all LMS trainees);

- ‘Trial’ period of ten months enabling the partner to assess the match potential with the trainee;

-   Opportunity to hire excellent candidates, educated to Dutch standards, also for the industrial partner’s international sites.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Clear agreement about the intellectual property ownership is important. TU/e agrees to transfer all intellectual property rights to the industrial partners according to the mutual agreement signed prior to the start of the design project.

PUBLICATION RIGHTS

When performing projects for industry, the university still needs to fulfill its publication duties. However, where this may conflict with your company interests, due to potential confidentiality issues, we will draw up custom-made agreements with you that always benefit your company.
