Save the date: Workshop Entrepreneurial thinking in Engineering Education & Active and Collaborative Learning

Wednesday 1 - 3 June 2016
Donald Carpenter and Andrew Gerhart will visit TU Delft, Eindhoven and Twente on respectively 1, 2, and 3 June to demonstrate how to incorporate “entrepreneurially-minded learning” in the classroom.

Save the date: Workshop Entrepreneurial Thinking in Engineering Education & Active and Collaborative Learning

Donald Carpenter and Andrew Gerhart will visit TU Delft, Eindhoven and Twente on respectively 1, 2, and 3 June. In Delft they will demonstrate how to incorporate “entrepreneurially-minded learning” in the classroom. In Eindhoven and Twente they will focus on Active and Collaborative Learning. Education staff is invited to join this interactive workshop.

In Delft participants will get to work in small group settings and learn about a technique that combines collaborative open-ended problem-based learning with attributes of the entrepreneurial mindset.

In Eindhoven and Twente participants will practice with a pedagogical classification system for Active and Collaborative Learning (ACL) which includes Project/Problem Based Learning. The system identifies 3 levels of proven classroom techniques.

Carpenter and Gerhart
Donald Carpenter and Andrew Gerhart both work at Lawrence Technological University. Gerhart is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. His research interests include fluid mechanics, entrepreneurial engineering, creative problem solving, and first-year engineering curriculum development. At Lawrence Tech, Dr. Gerhart has co-developed college-wide curriculum in engineering design and university-wide curriculum in leadership. Donald Carpenter is Professor of Civil Engineering where he teaches courses on ethics/professionalism and water resources. He aims to bring innovative team based problem solving into the engineering curriculum to promote the entrepreneurial mindset.
